What does Krav Maga mean ?

Krav Maga (Hebrew) means "contact combat." It is the self-defense and combat system used by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), the Israeli police and security services, as well as many law enforcement agencies around the world.

Krav Maga is taught not only to elite forces, but also in institutions under the Israeli Ministry of Education, as well as to civilians around the world. Developed over years of real-life conflict, it offers practical and proven techniques.

Refined over years of conflict, Krav Maga focuses on techniques that are easy to learn and effective in real-life situations of danger. Unlike many martial arts, it relies on natural human reflexes, making it accessible and quick to learn, even for non-athletes.

Transforming the environment into an advantage

Krav Maga training teaches students to use their everyday environment as a resource to defend themselves in dangerous situations. Beyond the physical aspects, it strengthens self-control and mental resilience, allowing practitioners to manage fear and react calmly to violent and stressful situations.

Krav Maga is not a traditional martial art

  • It is built to be logical and practical

  • it uses instinct and natural body movements

  • No complex form or Kata

Once the basic principles are mastered, students develop automatic reflexes :

With high levels of stress and fatigue

“There are no competitions in Krav Maga, as it is a realistic combat system designed for survival , not for sport.”
